Tennessee executes man convicted of killing his wife in 1984

Tennessee on Thursday executed a 68-year-old man who was convicted three decades ago of suffocating his wife with a large plastic garbage bag. Donnie Johnson was put to death by lethal injection at the Riverbend Maximum Security Institution in Nashville. In his dying moments, Johnson asked the warden if he could sing, and he sang two hymns.
