Justin Bieber accused of cultural appropriation over hairstyle

Justin Bieber has been accused of cultural appropriation after changing his hairstyle. The singer drew criticism after he shared a photo to Instagram on Monday in which he wore his hair in dreadlocks. Stephanie Cohen, co-founder and legal and political organizer at the Halo Collective, a natural hair organization, said Bieber had ’no right’ to wear the hairstyle.

Who appointed her the hair Czar? This is the fun part where hard leftist ideology takes a dive off a cliff; they claim “inclusivity and diversity” then go all authoritarian when the “wrong people” want to join their little tea party. Aside from that, the US was still a free country and free people are free to make their own choices.

Nordsmen also had dreads. Many cultures had dreads.

I guess we gotta call out all the black women straightening their hair. It's only fair right? Black people should be regulated to afros, dreadlocks, and shaving it all off I guess. White people should stick to their culturally appropriate straightened and wavy hairstyles. God damnit. What am I saying? Can't people see how unbelievably fucked up this sounds?!

Sorry people, but you can't appropriate someone else's culture. Why, you might ask... because there original culture still retains whatever was supposedly "appropriated".

There is a silver lining. Young people will see & read this & perhaps begin to realise that these people are nothing but control freaks telling people how to live their lives. (Oh & tell Stephanie she’s not allowed to live in a democracy or use electricity, running water or a toilet.)

I can't believe I am about to stick up for Bieber. Dreads pre date Rastas. Germanic Barbarians had Dreads, Vickings had Dreads, Scots had Dreads. All would have been manlier than Biebers whispy "Dreads".

It might be a story if Biden addressed Congress dressed like Snoop Dog, but is Justin Bieber even relevant?

Then Black people can not buy iPhones, because then they are appropriating white culture. Stupidity is amazingly huge in America.

Seriously, first it’s Justin Bieber. Second how many people have been bashing on this dude. First he looked homeless and he was bashed, and now he found a style but he’s stealing it from another culture....everything in our society is stolen from other cultures, hell it’s not even stolen, said culture still have their origins, stfu with this bs.

Apparently noone has heard of the vikings that sported dreads. Never knew Nordic countries were primarily black. This is news to me.

Has Stephanie Cohen ever used chopsticks? Asian culture. How about worn a cardigan? That's British cultural clothing. Sandles? Greek or Spanish culture. Democracy? Greek. The Republic? Roman. English language? Gosh I wonder... Culture is supposed to be an evolutionary process not an exclusionary one.

Blacks killing eachother at high rates, fatherless homes, high crime and imprisonment rates, but none of those are as big of an issue as Bieber in dreds..get real and focus on something that will actually help people.

So who gets to say someone needs permission to wear their hair a certain way? What about blacks that straighen their hair, or other cultures that may copy certain affectations of other cultures? This supposed "ownership" of fashions that come out of individual regions or culture is just that..SUPPOSED. These folks need to forget about these distracti and focus on the real cultural challenges, and limitations, the are important to recognize, and change.

Hair styles, just like clothing and all things fashion related are not owned by a group or nation. That is asinine. Style is about expression and last I checked the left has been telling me men can even wear dresses because clothing is expression. So certainly having a hair style that expresses yourself can't be negative. What a horrible person for fashion shaming the Beebs.🤷🏾‍♂️

It's just hair... I thought society wants to get away from the whole separation of race and ethnicity- It's a melting pot!

I'll buy this "cultural appropriation" argument just as soon as black women stop assaulting each other over bundles of straight hair, in an attempt to look " more Caucasian". Sorry to all the African "queens" out there, but the pie slices both ways.

Since when did you need to have a right to wear a hair style. Besides, dreadlocks is litterally just what happens to your hair naturally if you don't ever wash it or cut it
