Australian PM close to majority win in surprise results

PM Scott Morrison looks set to form a majority government as per the results emerging from the Australian Electoral Commission. With 76 seats needed for majority rule, figures as of Monday showed Morrison’s coalition was on target to win at least 77 seats. The opposition Labor Party, widely touted to win the election, is set to claim 68 seats.

Interestingly the winning party has actually lost ground in terms of votes. ~15% of votes did not go to any of the three larger parties.
