French doctors begin halting life support for man in vegetative state

French doctors have begun switching off the life support of a quadriplegic man who has been in a vegetative state for the last decade. The dispute over the fate of Vincent Lambert, 42, who had a motorbike accident in 2008, has divided France and even his own family. His parents have launched last ditch challenges to the court decision to halt the nutrition and hydration he receives.

I will never understand why we will allow people like this gentleman to basically starve to death or die of dehydration, but we allow people on death row a peaceful death? Maybe it is because people in prison have more rights than those in the hospital. I know for myself I wouldn’t want to be deprived of food and water. But maybe I’m in the minority.

where are all the pro lifers demanding he be kept alive at all costs? They're trying to murder a defenseless life when he's at his most vulnerable state! You don't get to choose whether or not someone is kept alive, you just have to accept the cost!
