Canada sends delegation to China to press for release of citizens

Canada has sent a parliamentary delegation to China to press for the release of two Canadian citizens formally arrested for espionage last week. Businessman Michael Spavor and former diplomat Michael Kovrig were picked up separately in December, shortly after Canada arrested Huawei Technologies CFO Meng Wanzhou.

Here's how that negotiation is likely to go. Hey China, The Prime Minister of Peoplekind sent us to ask about some of our Peoplekind that you have, if you give them back we promise that you can buy the rest of Vancouver and throw as much money into whatever other market you feel like hyperinflating. If you don't that's fine too and you can probably still just do whatever you want because thankfully everyone in our government lost their spines once we all became Peoplekind. Spines are terribly offensive after all, if you use them to stand up straight and hold your ground someone might find that threatening or oppressive and we can't have that in the current year.
