Wanted fugitive says he’ll surrender for 15,000 Facebook likes

A Connecticut police department has reached a deal with a fugitive that would have him surrender if enough people respond to a wanted poster on social media. Jose Simms, 29, has seven arrest warrants and is being sought as a fugitive. Police posted on the department’s Facebook page that Simms had contacted them and agreed to turn himself in if the post containing his poster gets 15,000 likes.

I’m not sure how I feel about this, while part of me is giggling at the idea, my rational mind is saying this isn’t how the police should be handling this because it will come back to hurt them later.

I'm wondering if the suspect wants public attention on his case to hopefully put pressure on a favorable outcome for himself.

...I must admit never have I heard that a fugitive would willingly surrender if he gets enough digital thumbs in his account! xD!
