Senate votes to reinstate regulations on methane emissions

The US Senate reversed a rollback by former President Donald Trump on the regulation of methane emissions from the oil-gas industry by a 52–42 vote. This is seen as a key to achieve President Joe Biden’s climate goals. The vote took place on a resolution under the Congressional Review Act, which gives them the power to undo agency rules passed in the last stages of the previous administration.
