Malaysia to return plastic waste to US and other countries

Following in the footsteps of Philippines, Malaysia has now said it will send back some 330 tons of non-recyclable plastic waste to countries including the US, UK, Canada and Australia. Malaysia’s Environment Minister said 60 containers stacked with contaminated waste were smuggled in to illegal processing facilities in Malaysia. The waste included were electronic and household waste from the US.

The only thing I recycle is glass, the local micro-brewery has set up a glass recycling system, they use the recycled for their beer bottles and the rest goes to other glass manufacturers.

They have to separate the recyclables from the non-recyclables or the council won't take it.

How will those who have it 'returned' know that its actually theirs? This could just be a ploy for countries who agreed to take waste in the first place, to renege on the deals and dump their own waste somewhere.

Good for them. Let the source countries deal with it.

There's a certain faux journalist in Malaysia who could certainly be considered toxic waste. No one wants him back.

Meh, I say we deploy a carrier group and have some FA18 super Hornets JDAM those containers. The post war consensus and cooperation is breaking down. We either assert ourselves and remind others that they're vassals at our leisure, or retreat to our shores, bc the diplomatic globalism of neo liberalism is breaking down.
