Navy SEAL released from custody ahead of murder trial

A Navy SEAL platoon leader court-martialed on war crimes charges was unexpectedly ordered released from base confinement in San Diego on Thursday. This comes 11 days before he is due to stand trial in the case. Special Operations Chief Edward Gallagher, 39, who has pleaded not guilty to all charges, had been restricted to base at the nearby Naval Medical Center San Diego since late March.
