Huawei is selling off its undersea cable business

China’s Huawei is planning to sell off its undersea cable operations. Huawei Marine Systems, in which Huawei holds a 51 per cent stake, lays undersea fiber optic cables between continents. It was established in 2009 and has laid more than 50,000 km of cable across 90 projects. Recently, however, the toxicity of Huawei’s reputation has made it increasingly difficult to win contracts.
