Los Angeles homelessness rises sharply

The number of homeless people in the nation’s most populous county showed a dramatic increase in a new official count released Tuesday. Los Angeles County’s homeless count rose 12 per cent to 58,936, a reversal from the previous year when the number dropped by 4 per cent. The city of Los Angeles alone saw a 16 per cent increase to 36,300.

Of course LA is having a homeless crisis. When you have a bunch of foreigners buying up real estate in the area and artificially jacking up prices, no one is going to be able to afford living in the city. Or in one case, some rich mofo back in the 2000s wanted to demolish a historic apartment but was denied by the mayor, so he just evicted everyone from the building as protest. That apartment lay vacant for over a decade since. And that is just one of possibly hundreds of cases of mass eviction because the ultra rich wants to demolish rent-controlled housing so they can replace it with 5 star hotels or condominiums. If anything, the cost of living in LA is so high, that no working class or even lower-middle class American can afford to rent a place let alone buy one. But never fear, I am sure there will be people who say it is the fault of poor people for being lazy and poor and they got what they deserve. Good job on rationalizing suffering caused by the greed of the rich.
