Alabama Bill Proposes Medical Castration for Convicted Pedophiles

Alabama Bill Proposes Medical Castration for Convicted Pedophiles

A new bill was just passed to the governor of Alabama for final approval. HB379 would allow judges to require convicted child molesters to receive regular medical treatments that block sex drive as a condition of parole. It was introduced by Rep. Steve Hurst, who pointed out that children who have been molested are permanently marked, and so should their persecutors.

Hmm, I'm conflicted. On one hand, the idea of castrating pedos (chemical or otherwise) is very appealing. On the other, I'd hate for someone to suffer due to a false accusation.

With all the false accusations flying around these days? Fuck that!

I will not support this especially given how much this type of complaint or accussation is falsified!

I'd only go with this in the case of absolute proof. Meaning getting caught on take or finding semen with a match in a kid. I am not talking about loose teens either I am talking about children who have no concept of sex up to 10. God it is a damn shame when you can't even defend children because they get sexualized so young. 😓😑

That feeling when Alabama is the state that better protects children and any other state.

This falls under cruel and unusual punishment. Also, imagine when they chemically castrate somebody later proven innocent. Stop with this barbaric crap.

There had better be some airtight burden of proof stipulations if they’re serious about this. God forbid the little shit down the street falsely accuses his neighbor for yelling about riding bikes across the lawn.

and I'm ok with this... if it is proven without doubt said crime took place.

I'm against lethal injection, and honestly any kind of permanent punishment. This is going too far Alabama.

I would only support this if the castration is a voluntary alternative to incarceration. We have way too many false positives on the sex offender list (e.g. urinating in public can land you on the list) for me to support any kind of mandatory castration. Also, if you've completed your prison sentence your dues to society should be considered paid. If that is not the case, the terms should be extended. Castration should not be added on as an additional punishment if the prison terms are sufficient. Lastly, castration seems like cruel and unusual punishment to me. At the very least, it is an extremely heavy punishment, completely eliminating one's ability to procreate. If it is not cruel and unusual, it should be reserved for the most extreme and certain convictions. I would view castration as an alternative to life imprisonment, or the death penalty. It has similar consequences. This is far worse than other barbaric punishments like cutting off hands or feet.

This is wrong on many levels. They committed the crime but they have no right to defy human rights to that extent.

As much as I want pedo's to pay for their crimes, I'm certain this bill crosses lines morally with regard to the possibility of false convictions and legality with regards to cruel or unusual punishment.

Glad to see many other reasonable, logical people in these comment. I doubt many against this love to see children molested... but ffs this is barbaric

Rather just lock them up for life so they can be the room mate of a gay guy twice their size. Then they can understand the experience of the child.
