Uber to offer $200 helicopter rides in New York

Uber will reportedly start offering air-based service as soon as next month, Uber Copter. The helicopter service will start in New York City on July 9. Rides can be booked using the Uber app, but as this is a helicopter and not a car, customers will have to settle for a predetermined route. The average ride is expected to be between $200 and $225 per person.

Didnt they report a rather large loss last quarter? The kind of people who can afford $200 heli-taxis might be looking at that and saying "if you cant even keep a regular taxi service with low overhead afloat...."

I think its a step forward for public transportation. There will be companies looking to get in on this idea only to drive prices lower. soon we will have our "flying cars" that are driven in lanes above the cities. most likely by AI but still!! cool!! yall are pessimists
