Southern Baptist Church address sexual abuse at annual convention

Delegates at the Southern Baptist Convention’s national meeting voted Tuesday to make it easier to expel churches that mishandle abuse cases. Rev. J.D. Greear, president of the nation’s largest Protestant denomination, said the SBC faced a ’defining moment’. The SBC’s meeting comes as Catholic bishops convene in Baltimore to address a widening sex-abuse crisis in the Catholic Church.

Punishing the offending church is denying the problem exists with the men,(the office of pastor is limited to men as qualified by Scripture), that commit these crimes against their members. Punishing the members of the congregation is saying that you were violated by the church, now we will punish you for it.
