Jessica Biel lobbies against California vaccination bill

Celebrity icon Jessica Biel lobbied against a California bill that restricts the list of valid medical exemptions for vaccinations. Biel said she is not against vaccinations but has friends whose child would be negatively impacted by this bill. Biel’s lobbying comes in the wake of a growing outbreak of measles in the United States.

I'm pro vax and think this bill is unconstitutional

It's a little hard to argue /w her. I mean if getting an abortion is a choice b/w a woman and get Dr. then a vaccine should be a choice b/w a parent and the pediatrician. I don't think she's right. I'm just connecting the logic dots

While I definitely do not like the idea of the government telling you you're required to get a shot, I do think vaccines should be something that 99+% of the population should get; an exemption should be very rare and only given for medical reasons where (for whatever reason, if there truly are any) the health of the recipient is in danger. I wish we could dispel the myths around vaccines do that people would willingly get them instead of all this nonsense about them causing autism.

Good for her. We should be able to control what the put into our children’s bodies.

Oh great, totalitarian leftists smearing someone for opposing the stripping away of freedom. Exactly which deadly or potentially crippling illness is making a comeback? Measles? This feels more like they're handing the flat earthers a megaphone, so people like that physician law maker can lump all critics in with them as they slowly erode away every last freedom.

I am 100% for vaccines and everyone should get one but giving the government power to mandate medical procedures is insane to me. Once the government has power it is almost impossible to take it away. Reactionary policies are usually terrible for the people. Take the patriot act for example. After 9/11 the people got scared of terrorists and ended up with the patriot act which basically ignores the constitution and was used against innocent civilians many times. Right now we have a measles outbreak so the people get scared and are willing to give the government power to force the people to inject a substance into their bodies??? Sure, right now it's only vaccines which are a good cause, but what if 50 years from now the government decides that the world is overpopulated and requires some men to be medically castrated? I know that's a leap but I'm just trying to prove a point. Governments do not always make good decisions. It is possible that one day a tyrant will take over the United states. What's even crazier to me is that those who believe Trump is an actual racist and Nazi could be proponents of this law???? How could you give a Nazi president the ability to force you to give an injection to your child??? How easy would it have been for Hitler to kill all the Jews if everyone in Germany was taking mandatory vaccine injections? "oh you're Jewish? ok, we have this other special vaccine you have to take for a disease that Jews have been proven to be more susceptible to." 1 year later all the Jewish people are dead.... (I do not think Trump is a Nazi. I was just proving a point.) To end I think vaccines are great and I do think we should have alternative punishment for not getting them. like maybe not allowing unvaccinated children into public schools or something.

This title is a lie, she said, and this is a quote “I’m not anti-vax”

I love when the NYT goes full Pravda, i.e. “claims which scientists have found baseless.” Sounds a lot like “a RBMK reactor cannot fail” claim from Chernobyl

If fewer dipshit Hollywood celebrities were anti-vax, there wouldn't be a need for laws like this one. It would be moot.

Thank you Jessica for having a brain. This is just another power grab by the left in their never ending struggle to control every citizen right down to their autonomy of body. Truly sick and transparent attempt when you know the statistical data on the subject and know what they are pushing couldn't be an attempt at medical improvement. I'm also not anti vaccines, but I am very much anti forced government injections. Especially when we have the data that shows they are not nearly as effective as they claim at outbreak prevention. The CDC report showed more vaccinated individuals were infected in the recent outbreak than non vaccinated individuals 57.4%(201 vaccinated infected out of 367) in New York. The vaccines don't prevent outbreaks according to their own data.
