Trump says ’It doesn’t matter’ what McGahn said to Mueller

President Trump is disputing former White House counsel Don McGahn’s account in special counsel Robert Mueller’s report. McGahn testified that Trump instructed him multiple times to have the acting AG remove the special counsel because of perceived conflicts of interest. ’I don’t care what (McGahn) says, it doesn’t matter’, Trump said.

Trump is right. Words are not actions. Trump was quite capable of firing Mueller himself. He did not need McGahn. The fact he did not do so or that he did not replace McGahn with someone who would is evidence that he did not obstruct the investigation. Let's also understand that Mueller was well aware within weeks of starting the investigation that there was no evidence of collusion and yet continued the investigation in the hope of pushing Trump into ending it. Mueller needs to be hauled before Congress, but the Dems are terrified of the Republicans getting a chance to ask him the obvious questions, including, why he did not wrap up the investigation when it was evident there was no collusion. At worse it can be concluded that Mueller continued the investigation with the purpose of affecting the midterm elections.
