Man caught at JFK smuggling 34 finches

A man has been arrested after trying to smuggle 34 live finches hidden in plastic hair curlers on a flight from Guyana. Francis Gurahoo hid the birds in his hand luggage. He was pulled over by customs officials at JFK Airport on Sunday. The 39-year-old was planning to sell the animals to be used in lucrative bird-singing competitions in New York City.

Clever but wrong.

My brain read this as "Man caught trying to smuggle JFK's 34 fingers" And I was like "JFK had 34 fingers?".

A bird in hand is worth more than 2 in the bush. Or in this case 34 in hair curlers is worth more than 68 in the unpressurized luggage bin.
