Britain’s Hammond ’prepared to resign’ over May’s spending plans

Philip Hammond, Chancellor of the Exchequer, is so frustrated by PM Theresa May’s plans to spend billions on projects to shore up her legacy that he considered resigning, according to sources. The chancellor is unhappy with the decision to set out plans to spend up to £27 billion on education over three years. He is believes May should not bind the hands of her successor with spending commitments.
