Trump honors economist who advised him on lowering taxes

President Trump awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom on Wednesday to economist Arthur Laffer. Laffer’s theories on tax cuts have guided Republican policy since the 1980s. Laffer, 78, advised Trump during his presidential campaign and co-wrote a book. ’Few people in history have revolutionized economic thought and policy like Dr. Art Laffer,’ Trump said during a ceremony in the Oval Office.

I mean good for him, but this isn't really news in my opinion.

The Laffer Curve is not "controversial" to anyone who understands basic economics. In simplest terms Laffer applied supply and demand to taxation with tax rates being demand and supply being the tax base. And he never actually gave a definitive maximum yield percentage for tax rates. Hell, most EU countries saw the wisdom of this in corporate tax rates, hence they're lower than the US!

the only sector that benefitted from tax cuts was Wall Street and Wall Street does not give a damn about the everyday laborer or did we forget how many times they have crashed the economy.

wonder if he will give an award to the staffer that told him to wipe front to back, too?

Too bad he can't award the medal to himself. A proxy will have to do.
