Billionaires ask to be taxed in a letter to 2020 candidates

A letter signed by nearly 20 of the ’richest 1/10 of the richest 1 per cent of Americans’ calls for 2020 presidential candidates to create a wealth tax on them. The 18 names on the letter published Monday include investor George Soros, filmmaker Abigail Disney, Facebook co-founder Chris Hughes, among other members of the ultrawealthy.

How about those dipshits just donate 99% of their wealth instead of waiting for the government to tax them?

Raise taxes on the rich so they all move out of the states. Fuck you George. I for one can't wait to read about you dying in your bed. Get to it.

Is this unanimous? Do all of America's 600 billionaires agree? You know, George, nothing stops you from paying extra. You're free to do so. Go for it, Tiger.

Fucking hilarious hearing people here blithely defend billionaires' right to pay LESS tax 😂😂😂. Clearly, what these billionaires understand is what the'e 'defend'rs' fail to. Amer'ca's wealth inequality is currently at levels not seen since before the Great Depression, we are talking getting on for a century ago ffs. History is once again our teacher when it comes to this, wealth inequality on that kinda scale leads to some messed up shit. The wealthy mentioned in this news story understand that, and they are urging a correction.

right but all the billionaires would do is charge more for the product we were already buying in order to recoup their losses. not a very good plan to punish the rich.

The IRS takes checks. What is your white guilt worth to you?

This makes no sense at all, if they wanted to be “taxed” more why don’t they just send a check to the IRS with how much more in taxes they believe they should pay? Or better yet why don’t they cover the taxes of America’s poorest workers?

Maybe not putting your cash overseas in tax havens might help a bit, too. Just a thought.

The Dem's are coming after that money one way or another. Maybe it feels more palatable to make noises that make it seem like you agree. Not a billionaire, never will be one, can't sympathize.

bernit 1 year

why do I have a feeling that most people on this site want billionaires to just keep hoarding all that wealth for them self's and don't see this as good news.
