Ford to slash 12,000 jobs in Europe

Ford said it will cut 12,000 jobs in Europe by the end of next year to try to return the business to profit. Ford Europe has been losing money for years and pressure to restructure its operations increased after arch-rival GM raised profits by selling its European brands. Ford plans to close three plants in Russia, a plant in France and Wales, and cut shifts at other factories.

Well at least Ford is trying to retain profitability in their automotive market. They have stopped production of a majority of sedans and hatchbacks in the U.S already due to poor sales.

You guys don’t get it. They are bringing manufacturing back to the US. But not jobs. Not for people anyway. Robots. They already are building state of the art facilities for the next generation of vehicles, all built by robots and automation. Easier to transition. No training. Only maintenance with technician/engineering salary’s to maintain. Power costs. The robots are coming(already here). Automation is coming(already here). Look around. Driving vehicles. Driving semis. So no Uber, Lyft, Taxi, cross country truck driving, or even local delivery jobs would be necessary. Automated by vehicle. Safer. Call centers...? Bye bye in 2 - 5 years also. Oh yeah. Don’t forget Amazon. Look around your local retail areas. Malls? Yikes. If this makes sends and seems familiar, then do some research on Andrew Yang.

Usually when a vehicle is retired they decommission the factories. That car they are making might not be on the market anymore. I need to look this up because I'm not sure if they refit the factory with updated equipment for new model of cars or not.
