Florida Gov. signs law requiring felons to pay fines prior to voting

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis recently signed a bill into law that would require ex-felons to pay off any financial obligations before regaining the right to vote. Opponents of the law state that it is a modern day poll tax and adds to voter suppression. Proponents argue that fines are included as part of a felon’s sentence which must be completed in full in order to regain voter eligibility.

Too bad that's unconstitutional.

Idk, I mean I heard Bernie talking about letting terrible criminals vote and I think that there are some crimes which should prevent a person from voting. If someone murders a person, why should they get to vote even though their victims would no longer be able to vote?

Shows how much respect they have for their voting public who passed restoring voting rights to felons without conditions . Don't lecture on prison reform , then block every attempt they are given to return to a productive life , I've personally witnessed my family members treated as less than human and knocked down at every attempt to correct mistakes they have made. Why not lift up , reward and praise this effort that is so sometimes debasing , I feel most elected officials only look down on and try to implement former offenders . Where are we headed? Down a very dark path I'm afraid.
