Kim Kardashian renames Kimono brand amid outcry

Kim Kardashian is to change the brand name for her latest fashion line ’Kimono’ following accusations of cultural appropriation. Some Japanese on social media complained that the brand name ’Kimono Intimates’ disrespected traditional clothing. The kimono, a loose long-sleeved Japanese robe, dates back to the 16th Century.

As someone who speaks Japanese and is part Japanese, let me spread a little education here. Ki-to wear. Mono-a suffix that turns a verb into a noun. For example: tabe-to eat. Tabemono-food. Kimono is literally the Japanese word for clothing. It is NOT just the traditional long sleeved gown women wear. It is the literal word for clothing. Kim Kardashian calling her line Kimono Intimates is basically saying Clothing Intimates. Those people losing their minds over Kim calling her clothing line Kimono need to fucking relax and accept that Kim decided on being a weeaboo. And the Japanese people protesting? Then stop wearing t-shirts and shorts. Because that’s cultural appropriation of the white man. WTFuck... Super Donkey Edit 2009: And the mayor of the ancient city of Kyoto...really? It’s your own damn language! Kimono is clothing. Tell me Mayor of the Ancient City of Kyoto, how do you say clothing in Japanese? I hate humans so much...

The vast majority of Japanese disagree with the concept of cultural appropriation. Just another day of 7 woke cultists on Twitter pretending they represent an entire ethnic group, when they don't. It's long past time to tune them out.

When they say Japanese, do they mean Americans of Japanese decent or actual Japanese people? Either way, as commented above, snowflakes gonna snowflake.

Interesting that the main objection I heard was due to Kim trying to trademark/copywrite the word Kimono.

Next on the chopping block, no more stir Friday’s, as that’s cultural appropriation too.
