Australia cuts interest rates further

Australia’s central bank cut its benchmark interest rate by 0.25 per cent on Tuesday to a record low of 1 per cent in a bid to boost the economy. The cut is the second in consecutive months. ’This easing of monetary policy will support employment growth and provide greater confidence that inflation will be consistent with the medium-term target’, Reserve Bank Governor Philip Lowe said.
