Navy SEAL found not guilty of all counts except for posing with a dead prisoner

Navy SEAL Eddie Gallagher has been acquitted of all charges except for posing with a dead war prisoner in Iraq. This is after a witness admitted that he had killed the teen, not Gallagher. The maximum sentence he could receive for posing with the prisoner is 4 months, which is less than the time he served in pre-trial captivity. He is expected to be released Tuesday.

Thank you for your service, now go and live a long and fulfilling life with your friends and family. Killing an ISIS member should come with a cash prize not a prison sentence.

I had a discussion with my wife about this. I said he's guilty of nothing but stupidity for posing with the dead terrorist. She said, "You have no idea what might have happened just before. Maybe his compatriots just got shot, or blown up. He's a human being, with all the weakness that entails." I'm stupid. This is war. I would slowly disembowel my enemy if they threatened my own. Without blinking.

Why is this a crime? Would his enemy have shown his corpse any respect?
