Florida woman who took husband’s guns faces misdemeanor

The Florida state attorney’s office has said a woman who turned her husband’s guns in to authorities will face a misdemeanor trespassing charge. Police had originally charged Courtney Irby with armed burglary and grand theft after she took her husband’s guns from his home and gave them to police. Her husband was under arrest for domestic violence charges.

So no equality under the law, if she was a man she would have been charged with burglery.

If he was charged with domestic abuse then she has every right to defend herself. Throwing his guns away would be armed robbery and grand theft. Turning them in for her own saftey shouldn’t be. If he was deemed not a threat by the police then he can get his guns back and then decide to press charges. If the police deemed him a threat they can hold them in custody through eminent domain. I hate eminent domain laws but I do stand with victims of domestic abuse and their rights to defend themselves.
