Trump again pursues citizenship question

President Trump said on Wednesday he was moving ahead with adding a citizenship question to the 2020 US census. This is a reversal of stance after his own administration including Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross announced a day earlier that the plan had been dropped. Trump called the news reports around the dropping of the citizenship question as fake.

When taking a census knowing who is and isn't a citizen seems important to me.

The only people who fear this question are those breaking immigration laws and those encouraging them.

It’s sad that these tyrannical judges can block anything Trump does just because they disagree with him

This will destroy their ability to leech federal funding as well as steal elections. NY, CA & Il are fucked.

Good, we need to know who is here to better give accurate representation to our legal citizens. Of course, that will hurt the sanctuary states which is just a bonus. Inflating their population numbers for inaccurate representatives in the house as well as vastly changing demographics. I’ll be very clear I don’t give a shit what you look like if you fill out the paperwork, wait your turn and actually want to be here because you want freedom and economic mobility okay but if you jump the border illegally I want you out as fast as possible never to return.

why not just let the entire world vote? open borders means no borders. no borders means no citizens. what is country??.?

I would love to see the Citizenship question on the Census but this isn't a case of activist judges thwarting the President, this is the Supreme Court of the United States. Trump is playing with fire here and he should be aware that only one US President (unless I have forgotten something) has ever openly defied the Supreme Court and gotten away with it. The question Trump needs to ask himself is "Am I prepared to be Andrew Jackson?"

im all for the question being added, it makes sense to know who can vote. that being said, what keeps illegals from just lying?

Ok so the printers are already making the census without the question added and the Supreme court itself voted that the census question shouldn't be added on the census, so now I'm just really curious as to how Trump is going to legally get this question added

Didn’t the Supreme Court already rule against the citizenship question? Where are all the Constitutional purists on the right?
