Activists worry about potential abuse of face scans for ICE

Civil rights activists complained Monday of the potential for widespread abuse following confirmation that at least three states have scanned millions of driver’s license photos on behalf of the ICE. Public records provided the first proof that ICE had sought such scans, which were conducted in Utah, Vermont and Washington.

As a huge fan of civil liberties, this is very bad. However with the growing capability for facial recognition, we're not that far from being able to do facial recognition of faces in public places (China is already doing it now). It is scary where things will be 5 or 10 years from now. The show Person of Interest probably gives us a preview.
