Amazon workers are planning a Prime Day protest

Amazon employees in Minnesota are planning a strike on Prime Day this year. Workers at an Amazon fulfillment center in Shakopee, Minnesota, have plotted to stop working for six hours on July 15, when the 48-hour Prime Day kicks off. Activists are going to be pushing Amazon to take action against things like climate change and giving more temporary workers the option to become full time.

They get $15 an hr for a job that takes about 12 brain cells to perform. My parents worked for $6 /hr doing heavy manual labor in the 90's. They would've killed for a warehouse job like this.

these people feel they are entitled to a job. they're not. the job market is pretty similar to the employment market from two perspectives; you sell your time and expertise to an employer, if you're not worth the value, the employer doesn't keep paying for you. from the other perspective, you are a business with one commodity; you. if you are not getting the value you feel is correct, then you sell your product to another business. if you cannot find a business to buy your product, you reduce it's price as in any other business situation. these people just think their product is worth more than it is, so therefore feel they are entitled to more compensation from the company they're selling to. unfortunately, this company has capitulated in the past, which emboldens guerilla tactics that you see here. it's disgusting, and Amazon should double down and stop buying their services.

Temp workers are temps for a reason. If they are looking for full time work, wait for an opening and apply for it.
