Powell sends strong signal of possible rate cut

Federal Reserve chairman Jerome Powell has signaled that a cut in interest rates is coming after he warned of growing risks to the global economy. ’Concerns about the strength of the global economy continue to weigh on the US outlook’, Powell said. The Fed has maintained the benchmark overnight interest rate in a range of between 2.25 per cent and 2.50 per cent since December.
