S. Korea seeks U.S. support in effort to curb Japan’s rising export restrictions

Kim Hee-sang, the Director-General for Bilateral Economic Affairs of the S. Korean Foreign Ministry, met senior officials of the U.S. State Department on Thursday to discuss trade negotiations with Japan. The talks come as Japan increased restrictions on high-tech exports in a retaliatory move after the S. Korean Supreme Court ruled Japanese firms must compensate victims of wartime forced labor.
