decriminalization is not the answer I'm looking for. there needs to be heavy penalties for hiring of illegal immigrants and fines for those crossing the boarder without documentation. the political classes need to focus on citizens and residents needs with only being humane on illegals and this can't happen if the numbers overwhelm our resources. this is pandering and should be questioned in the media

Open borders is not a sound policy.

Can anyone explain to me the logic behind running to lead a country on the platform of ending its existence if elected?
Brandon Huber 3 months
Not prosecuting illegal border crossers as criminals was done before, and the country didn't end. In fact, it worked really well. Leave that weird fear planet you live on and come back to reality.
Matthew Rowley 3 months
When was it done before and please say Ellis Island.

So without knowing what era you are talking about I cannot attack your argument specifically. However, I will say that having a boarder is both a defining and nessesary characteristic of a state/country. If there are no legal consequences for crossing the boarder, than the boarder is nothing more than an imaginary, arbitrary line. Thus, it does not exist. If the boarder no longer exists, and a boarder is a nessesary characteristic of a country, then the country no longer exists. I don't know why this needs to be explained since it is the exact argument used by globalists except they think its a good thing.

I wish these nitwits would just let Trump solve this. Then we can move onto more pressing things like social security reform and reducing the national deficit.

Open borders = The end of the USA, it's just as the globists want, the end of all country's, and the beginning of one big melting pot for cheap and never ending labour.

They only want the end of some countries or haven’t you noticed.

if we r gonna have open borders might as well bomb mexico and take over their oil fields

You’re onto something here... no border means America can invade Mexico without illegally crossing a border... FIENDISH!!
Garthak 3 months
I've been saying we should take Mexico for years. half of them want to live here anyway, and we could properly utilize their resources, and solve their crime issue.

If the US is destined to be a dual Anglo/Latino nation then let's just erase every border as far as Panama. May as well have the resources if you're going to have the problems.

I'm a little amazed CNN didn't bury the lead like the other liberal sites. Good on them.

Curing illegal immigration by making it not illegal is like curing a weight problem by buying bigger trousers. But hey who am l?

Only those in the 2nd half. The first half weren't asked that question - they probably support it too but it's hard to say.
Barny Fraggles 3 months
Good point, true. In fairness if it's asked, any hand that doesn't go up would be boo'ed into omission so it's also hard to say what's lip service or not.
Justin White 2 months
Yeah, Biden hesitated and realised everyone else's hands were up and felt he had to follow along. Peer pressure.

I wonder if they can build a border fence with the amount of red tape she wants to put into customs and enforcement?

In this comment section you can witness how little conservatives understand immigration policy. The impact of decriminalized crossing is just beyond your grasp. To the mayo-brains, it means open borders.

Please enlighten us because according to left-wing sources that's the result.
Brandon Huber 3 months
Hannibal Under Obama, deporter in chief, many crossing the border were not tried as criminals if that was there only offense. Did that mean an open border? Nope. Immigration fell and deportation numbers broke records. Decriminalization is not legalization. It is a matter of logistics. It allows us to use our facilities for the migrants with criminal records and handle them faster. Instead of trying every last one criminally and bringing it all to a hault.

I'm so dumbfounded at people and particularly politician. Can someone explain to me why this is even a topic for discussion? Why do people want open borders so badly?
