I understand people will have strong opinions on trade with China and the trade deficit. I don’t get why a trade deficit is a bad thing. The international trade equation that economists use only factors in physical products made in one country and moved into another. It does not mention intellectual property or services! The US is a service based economy primarily geared towards serving its large middle class. This middle class either works in the service industry or “intellectual “ industry creating patents and innovating. Those are what we export to China and Mexico. We can all agree that we export jobs to those countries too as manufacturing is cheaper across the border. While those manufacturing jobs are lost new ones are made in the tech sector. Tariffs do nothing but hurt the American consumer. All they do is force these trans national manufacturers to raise their prices on us. It is an attempt that tries to make American manufacturing more competitive (ironically by implementing barriers) and attempts to save a few thousand jobs while consumers take the burden. Let America innovate again, support free trade. Side Note: Many will argue that since China isn’t playing fair by implementing tariffs, discriminating against foreign companies in China and stifling foreign investment that we shouldn’t play fair either. That is a bunch of baloney. We should absolutely play fair, we need to set an example to the rest of the world. If nations start putting up trade barriers in retaliation then it will stifle global trade. For example, the tariffs implemented during the Great Depression only made it worse and prolonged it. Regarding Huawei and national security issues, I totally agree on the ban of their products. It is a national security issue with an enemy state spying on our people and government.

Chinamen got an easy out. Compared to what they have been up to in S.E.A. and Africas. Hope they get the hint.
