I'm struggling to understand how you can charge a person for encouraging someone to drink booze. Can I be sued by my friend if I buy him a few pints and then he crashes his car drunk?

@Barney: The fact you are asking the question shows you think you would be morally, if not legally responsible. Not much of a friend if you let him drive drunk, especially if you got him drunk.
