Sen. Ted Cruz called on Tennessee to change a law honoring Nathan Bedford Forrest, a former Confederate general. ’He was also a slave trader & the 1st Grand Wizard of the KKK’, Cruz tweeted Friday. This comes after Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee signed a proclamation marking Saturday as Nathan Bedford Forrest Day in the Volunteer State.

No one is perfect. Bad people can do good things. Why not honor him for the good he did? Gandhi was a racist cunt too, particularly in his early life, yet we still honor him for the good he did. I see no problem with this.

Its one thing to honor someone who has faults. It is another to honor someone whos major identity is a negative stroke of our history. There are so many people to honor that ARENT people of questionable morals, we should be noticing.
