Auto workers union, Detroit 3 kick off contentious contract talks

Contract talks between the United Auto Workers and Detroit’s three automakers kicked off with the union president telling Ford executives that workers want a bigger share of the companies’ profits. Besides, rising healthcare costs, job security and the use of temporary workers are also expected to be major sticking points in the talks.

I feel a lot of things contributed to the decline of Detroit, but one of the biggest factors is the UAW wanting more and more money. $55 an hour?! Fuck there are college degree needed jobs that earn less!
