Sanders calls for boycott of corporate healthcare industry donors

Bernie Sanders called on all Democratic presidential candidates to refuse large corporate donations from lobbyists paid by the pharmaceutical and health insurance industries. Sanders highlighted rampant corruption in the capital, saying, ’You can’t change a corrupt system by taking its money.’

Any candidate who takes money from the health insurance industry or pharma should not receive any votes. Personally, I'd like to see a move towards Japanese style healthcare, it's similar to medicare in that the individual must pick up a small portion, in Japans case it's 30%. But the real kicker is no for-profit healthcare facilities. The Japanese have also lowered costs through tech and AI. This plan allows private insurance companies a small slice of the pie. I would put a restriction on them that only one billing system can be used, that eliminates a huge financial burden on the providers.

We can just say they need to stop accepting money from anyone. Elections should be tax payer funded, and, nobody should be allowed to make a career out of politics. But that will never happen.

IMO all campaign funds should be an equal amount alloted to each candidate, paid by tax payers. All corporate and personal donations should be treated as bribes and hit with corruption charges.

Bruh, what happened last election? Did you not take a bribe to drop out of the race so Hillary could lose to trump?

Wow, I agree with AY-MO. Ds & Rs must stop reelecting incumbents in the pockets of Pharma & Health insurance Companies.

I commend his stance, but the Dems are owned by big pharma and the insurance companies.

I may not be knowledgeable about US healthcare but isn’t that like saying everyone’s limbs must be replaced with cybernetic limbs and then cutting off everyone’s limbs before said cybernetics are even invented.

Good to see conservatives and liberals agree that corporate money (at least from this industry) does not belong in politics

Donald Trump needs to stop receiving donations from large corporations. That is probably why he passed a billed that put a tax cut on the wealthiest 1%.

Right. This is gonna happen. Next, he’s gonna call on all video game developers to boycott publishers that promote the use of loot boxes. 🙄
