House holds Barr, Ross in contempt over 2020 census citizenship question

The House of Representatives voted Wednesday to hold AG William Barr and Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross in contempt over the White House’s failed push to add a citizenship question to the 2020 census. The House rapped Barr and Ross for failing to surrender subpoenaed documents laying out the administration’s desire to add the question to the census.

The Constitution specifically states that each branch has undeniable oversight over the others. It is literally Congress' job to gather information so they can achieve that oversight. Regardless of your political standing, nobody should find it acceptable for anyone to be ignoring subpoenas. Doing so sets a dangerous precedent, it's unconstitutional, and it should be immediately punishable by jail time. The Republicans may find it suiting now, but I guarantee that when the tables are eventually turned they will be throwing an absolute FIT when democrats ignore subpoenas as well.
