NYT fighting fake news using blockchain

The New York Times (NYT) has confirmed that it is working on a project which is using blockchain technology in order to fight fake news. NYT is using Hyperledger Fabric Permissioned blockchain. The project is called ’The News Provenance Project’ and aims to explore new ways for publishers to help fight misinformation.

Not a NYT fan (“all the news that’s got to print” my ass). Fail to see why this is bad though. If it works as a proof-of-concept it will work to keep them honest as well.
