Mexico says migration rate has dropped since May

Mexican government said on Tuesday that the number of migrants reaching Mexico’s border with the United States has fallen almost 40% since May. They hope to defuse tensions with Trump over a recent surge in migration.

I'm skeptical about that, that's a pretty steep percentage. I hope it's true though, and I hope Mexico does help with job creation in Central America. If more news keeps coming out like this, that will be a huge win for Trump.

But what percentage were they up this year? If the migrant caravans took it up 400% and it's gone down by 40%. That's still 360% higher than it should be.

Illegal immigration tends to drop during the summer months not because of good governance necessarily, but rather how much of the US/Mexico border is a brutally hot and dangerous desert.

I think they mean invasion, not migration.
