Russian military to fight forest fires in Siberia

Forest fires in Siberia have burned about 3M hectares (7.4M acres) of land in the center and east of Russia on Wednesday, enveloping cities in black smoke. Russian president Putin, has called in the army to fight the fires. Environmentalists have warned that the scale of the blazes could accelerate global warming, aside from any immediate effects on the health of inhabitants.
