Texas homeless woman shot accidentally by police officer

A homeless Texas woman was killed when she was struck by a stray bullet fired by a police officer allegedly shooting an unrestrained dog who was charging at him. Arlington Police were dispatched to an area near Cantor Drive and North Collins Street at around 5:15 p.m. Thursday to conduct a welfare check on a woman that was reportedly passed out in a grassy field.

How big was the dog?

This is a tricky one. Some folks are gonna wonder why the officer did not use his baton or mace or stun gun. And it’s going to snowball into a “lethal force”/“gun violence” issue. Personally, I would have shot at the dog. I’ve been attacked by a pit bull in the past and used a stick to attempt to beat it off, only to have the pit turn his attention to the stick.

When are cops going to he called out for shooting dogs? I carry multiple deadly weapons and I carry less than lethal largely for dogs. Can dogs kill? Occasionally, yes. Can they inflict serious injury? Fairly often. Are cops thinking they can pop family dogs a bunch of power tripping pussies? Without question. Is the failure of law enforcement to develop rapid deployment less lethal options with training behind it indicative of how trigger happy and unaccountable they've become? Absolutely. This isn't the first time they've killed someone bc they shoot at dogs, and when they merely injure children after offing their pet, it rarely makes headlines, and the 40-60 dogs they shoot a day go unreported. I'm generally pro LE, but this bullshit needs to stop, it isn't like it's only frightening situations where they pull a pistol, they routinely kill pets for being too loud, even when they're under 10lbs.

Collateral damage. Animal control is fraught with danger!

The police officer will likely face 0 repercussions based on case law. Which is absolute bullshit. A concealed carrier is responsible for every bullet that leaves their gun, the same should apply to police, not this citizens++ crap.
