Residents of Hong Kong refuse to give up rights

After 9 weeks of disruption and protests, more is planned for tomorrow (8/5/19). Even civil service workers, required to be neutral, have announced their participation in the Monday protests. The legislation allowing for political prisoners to be extradited to mainland China has been suspended, but protests won’t stop until this rule is completely abandoned. Hong Kong won’t give up its freedom.

Hongkong wanting independence, Iran siezing oil tankers, North Korea missile tests, Russian.....well just general Putin stuff, Brexit, middel eastern socal invastion to europe. It all sounds like something you'd read about in a history book about what led up to a world war.

@voice of reason they do it in Latin America all the time when they want to get rid of a President. They shut down the country for days and watch the economy bleed to death. Oddly enough it works.

This is an interesting strategy from the protestors, if they shut down the city then when the PLA moves in to "provide security" or whatever their excuse will be, the city will remain shut down since you can't force people to work. They'll lose more money and standing each day as their solution only exacerbates the problem.
