AMD lands Google, Twitter as customers with newest server chip

Advanced Micro Devices Inc. shares soared on Thursday amid optimism for the company’s announcements about its second-generation Epyc 2 server chip, which is also called Rome. The company said Rome would offer nearly double the performance of Intel Corp.’s INTC, +0.94% Xeon processor at about half the cost. IT said that it had landed Alphabet Inc’ and Twitter Inc as customers.

Apparently the chip is wedge shaped and is thicker on the left hand side. The P/N and FET junctions inside the chip are heavily biased.
