UK economic growth falls in second quarter

The UK economy shrank by 0.2 per cent over the three months to June. The worse-than-anticipated figures fuel fears of a full-blown recession. Production output fell by 1.4 per cent in the second quarter, with manufacturing showing a 2.3 per cent decline. Construction output was also weaker, falling by 1.3 per cent.
