House Homeland Security Committee subpoenas 8chan owner

The owner of online message board 8chan that was used by gunmen in El Paso shooting, will be questioned by the U.S. House Homeland Security Committee. The Committee said on Wednesday that Jim Watkins will testify on Sept. 5 as part of its probe into countering extremist content on social media platforms.

What do they expect him to do? What information do they think he is going to give them that is so important? This is similar to when newspapers were given manifestos by violent asshats in the past; Ted Kaczynski did this and many others. I don't recall Congress subpoenas being sent to the newspapers in those situations...
