US customs and border protection systems down, airports nationwide affected

A system outage at the US Customs and Border Protection caused massive delays at airports across US on Friday afternoon. The agency’s processing systems went down for several hours at more than 10 major airports, leaving tens of thousands of travelers in long lines. The system was running again on Saturday but CBP have not revealed what caused the incident.

This would be bigger news if news organizations weren't so wrapped up in politics. I would expect a company's stock to drop and people to get fired over something like this, and I would guess that a contractor screwed up to cause this.

The system is largely just security theater; pointless illusion to make the public feel like something is being done to make them safe. This outage didn't make them less safe.
