Plane evacuated after emergency landing in Hawaii

Seven people were taken to the hospital Thursday after smoke filled the cabin of a Hawaiian Airlines flight from California. 184 passengers and seven crew members used evacuation slides to get off the plane after it declared an in-flight emergency and landed in Honolulu. Smoke was first detected about 20 minutes prior to landing as the plane began to descend.

Does anyone know where the cabin air intake is on planes. As a mechanic, I'm having a hard time picturing how the smoke could get from the engine into the cabin at however many hundreds of miles an hour they were traveling.

Lots of plane crashes and accidents lately. Conspiracy theories anyone?
