China announces tariff hike on $75 billion of US goods

China has announced it will impose new tariffs on $75 billion worth of US goods and resume duties on American autos. The Chinese government has decided to slap tariffs ranging from 5 per cent to 10 per cent on $75 billion US goods in two batches effective on Sep. 1 and Dec. 15. Besides, a 25 per cent tariff will also be imposed on U.S. cars and a 5 per cent tariff on auto parts and components.

China is an export economy, they need a buyer for their bullshit trinkets and baubles. Tariffs and counter tariffs cause much more damage to them because most of the trade between the two countries goes into the US, meaning more taxes are applied to China than US. Lose-lose for PRC as far as I can tell.

China hardly buys anything from the US anyway. The only leverage they have here are the shrieking leftists in the media supporting a regressive communist dictatorship against their own president.

Vietnam, the Philippines, India, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, a sizable portion of Africa. There are plenty of places to get cheap labor and decentralized production will help prevent another China from rising.

So which of the many manufacturing capable countries globally would like $75B Dollars worth of business? I can see Vietnam making a killing out of this. Give up now, Pooh Bear. You've lost already. Can't even afford to match the goods value tit-for-tat.

Good to hear that Trump is a socialist now. Time to put an end to this late-stage capitalism that ships our jobs overseas and that keeps all the wealth at the top instead of giving a fair share to the middle class.
