A Catholic religious order in Mississippi recently settled sex abuse cases by secretly paying two black Mississippi men $15,000 each. This is far less than other survivors of clergy abuse typically have received.
It’s an out of court settlement. The black people agreed to it. They shouldn’t have settled for less.
"He said if I wanted more, I would have to get a lawyer and have my lawyer call his lawyer," La Jarvis Love, 36, told the Associated Press. "Well, we don't have lawyers. We felt like we had to take what we could."
